KBC is back! It’s time to brush off the dust from all the GK books in your house and prep yourself to meet the one and only Amitabh Bachchan on the hot seat. Kaun Banega Crorepati, the desi version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? had begun enthralling us from 2000 with Amitabh Bachchan as the host. He hosted the show for nearly all the seasons, except for the third which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. KBC was one of the most followed shows in India, especially in the early seasons, and it had a number of clones and other iterations in various languages.

The last season, which is the eighth one, ended in 2014, and now after a gap of three years, AB is returning to make some very knowledgeable Indians richer. However, the new season will also be incorporating some new changes in the game format and the winnings as well. Here are five new changes that KBC will introduce in the ninth season.

# Play Along: Jio subscribers will get to play along with the contestants, as they can answer the questions through their phones.

#Reduced number of episodes: The new seasons will only run for six weeks with just 30 episodes (5 episodes per week)

# Change in phone-a-friend helpline: Instead of the usual calling up the friend, the new season will have the contestants do a video call with the people whom they chose to consult.

# Jodidar: The new season introduces a new lifeline where the contestant will be allowed to take guidance from his/her friend or family member who has accompanied the contestant on the show.

# Prize money: The prize money has increased to Rs 7 crore and you need to answer 16 questions correctly to get that money. The prize money will be subjected to all kinds of applicable taxes.

Kaun Banega Crorepati season 9 will begin airing from August 28 at 9 pm on Sony TV. The new season is said to broken registration records of all previous season by registering 19.8 million citizens on the show.
