Today, the makers of Pehredaar Piya Ki in a press conference addressed all the misconceptions doing the rounds about the show. They clarified that there was no honeymoon sequence between Ratan (Afaan Khan) and Diya (Tejasswi Prakash). Shashi and Sumeet Mittal also reiterated that it was not a show that promoted child marriage but more a tale of a girl, who makes a promise to a dying man to look after his son, who has become an orphan.
They also spoke about how many people who filed the petition had not watched a single episode of the show. Lastly, Shashi and Sumeet Mittal stated that they would address the BCCC when the authorities came to them. While we agree that the concept of the show is silly and unfathomable in present times, it is not cringe-worthy or creepy as people are making it out to be. And everyone who are having an objection to this show seem to have forgotten the times when children are made victims of planned assault and constant witchcraft on shows. Those scenes can be downright violent and negatively influence adults as well. On the other side, it might be a good idea to shift the telecast of Pehredaar Piya Ki to a later time so that it is not consumed by impressionable children.
The show is a work of fiction and should be viewed in that context. The authorities from Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) will be viewing the show and proceed accordingly. The makers feel they are in the clear. Do you feel the demand on ban of Pehredaar Piya Ki is justified?
